Promoting Wetlands Conservation to the Youth

The Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands celebrated the World Wetlands Day at the Launch Event of Bright Spots in Hotspots Campaign of the Philippine Biodiversity and Watersheds Improved for Stronger Economy and Ecosystem Resilience (B+WISER) Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the USAID.  The campaign, with the theme Wetlands for our Future, aimed to motivate and facilitate youth groups to sign-up to the conservation activities of Naujan Lake National Park.

At the launching event, Ms. Amy Lecciones of the SCPW presented the mechanics of the Ramsar’s Wetlands Youth Photo Contest and explained the objectives of the photo contest to the officials of the local schools in the province of Mindoro Occidental, urging them to encouraged their students to participate in the contest.

The event was held on 02 February 2015 at the Naujan Lake National Park in Mindoro Occidental.
