The Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc. (SCPW) and the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines – Metro South Chapter (IIEE) has successfully conducted a webinar entitled “Wetlands for Healthy People and Nature” on May 21, 2022 via Zoom Platform.

The event was held in celebration of the International Day for Biodiversity and the Month of the Ocean. The module is also part of the SCPW Wetland School.

The main highlight of the event was the presentation of SCPW Executive Director, Ms. Amy Lecciones about wetlands: their importance, functions and values including ecosystem services; issues and threats; global, regional and local initiatives to conserve them; and what actions each and everyone can do to help conserve them.  She also underscored the importance of restoring wetlands in line with the United Nation’s Decade of Ecosystem Restoration.  Also discussed were the wetland conservation projects and programs of SCPW.

The webinar, which has been accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission, was attended by more than 120 participants consisting of IIEE members and other partners.
