Youth-in-Action for Disaster Risk Preparedness and Reduction:
Resilience and Adaptation Strategies by the Youth

The project endeavored to help reduce the disaster risks faced by the municipalities of Balete, Mataasnakahoy, and Tingloy through increased community participation and youth involvement. It is being implemented through United Nations – World Food Programme’s Disaster Preparedness and Response Programme in the province of Batangas.

Community DRR and CCA Meeting-Consultation

After the Youth Ecological Camp, the action plans and pilot projects/activities were presented by the youth teams in a Community Meeting to solicit the support of the community, including the local government authorities and other community leaders, parents, school administration, teachers and fellow students.


Community Meeting for Balete

Held on 30 May 2016, attended officers of Parents-Teachers Association, teachers and students of Balete National High School.
Selected eco-campers shared their larnings by giving mini-lectures on environmental principles and basic DRRM and CCAM concepts.

 

Community Meeting for Mataasnakahoy

Held on 29 July 2016 at DepEd District Office of Mataasnakahoy, attended by students, teachers and parents from Mataasnakahoy National High School and Bayorbor National High School.

Community Meeting for Tingloy

Held on 01 July 2016 at Tingloy National High School, and on 04 July 2016 at Papaya National High School.
Action plan an pilot project/activities were presented by the youth teams.
