The Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc. (SCPW) was one of the three organizations invited by the Office of the Mountain-River-Lake Development Regional Sustainable Development (MRLSD) to a study tour and workshop  on 05-11 September 2017 in Nanchang City, P. R. China.  The management and utilization of solar energy as a resource for improving the living condition in rural area was the main focus of the activity.   This included lectures and a visit to the solar power stations and facilities of Jinko Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. and Jiangxi Uniex New Energy Co., Ltd. in Shangrao City.  Another highlight of the meeting was the visit to the Jiangxi Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation and a meeting with their officers.

As a result of the study tour, the participants and MRLSD agreed to cooperate in preparing a proposal on how solar energy can improve living conditions in rural areas in the Philippines, Sri Lanka and India.  The proposal shall be submitted for consideration under China’s One Belt One Road Program.

The MRLSD is a non-profit, non government organization that promotes the sustainable development of Poyang Lake/MRL region through conducting national and international cooperation in terms of funds, technology, information and expertise.   The other two organizations present were EMACE Foundation of Sri Lanka and South Asian Voluntary Association of Environmentalists of India.  All four organizations are members of the International Living Lakes Network which is coordinated by the Global Nature Fund.

      We are not sure. The invitation was by batch; in our batch, we were with invitees from India and Sri Lanka.
