The Roundtable Discussion on the Philippines Water Sector: Gaps and Opportunities will be organised by the British Embassy Manila Department of International Trade in partnership with the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc. and the Philippine Water Partnership as part of the World Water Day 2019.  The WWD 2019 is celebrated yearly on March 22 and this year’s theme is “Leaving no one behind” highlighting the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that, as sustainable development progresses, everyone must benefit. SDG 6 includes a target to ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all by 2030 and this means leaving no one behind. To achieve this target, there is a need for a concerted effort among the actors in the water sector to pursue initiatives that will deliver this result.

This multi-stakeholder dialogue aims to enhance relationships among key Philippine oversight agencies on water, private sector, civil society organisations, academe, development partners, and water-end users by sharing what each one is currently doing and in the process identify areas of opportunities for fruitful collaboration.

The rountable discussion will be held on 20 March at the Joy Nostalg Hotel Manila on ADB Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City from 8am – 1:30pm in the afternoon.  The event is by invite only but a report of the discussions will be made public. If you are from media or the press and would like to receive a press release please contact Dir. Amy Lecciones at the SCPW Office or Ms Michelle Clutton at the UK DIT.
