The 14th Living Lakes Conference was held in Nanchang, P. R. China on 19 – 23 November 2014.   The Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc. (SCPW) was represented by Ms. Amy Lecciones, Mr. Jose Carlo Quintos, and Ms. Adelina Santos Borja who was also representing Laguna Lake Development Authority. Ms. Lecciones was one of the presentors in the workshop on “How business can support the protection of lakes and other wetlands and their valuable ecosystem-services“.  Ms. Borja, meanwhile was the moderator of the session on “Lakes and sustainable tourism development“.

350 delegates from 33 countries of five continents attended the event.  With the theme “Lakes in densely populated regions – Balance between people and nature“, they exchanged strategies on protection of lakes worldwide and on new approaches for successful management of lake regions.

Living Lakes is an international network and partnership whose mission is to enhance the protection, restoration and rehabilitation of lakes, wetlands, other freshwater bodies of the world and their catchment areas.  Laguna de Bay, represented by CLEAR/SCPW, is a member of the Living Lakes Network.

The Conference was organized by the Global Nature Fund and was hosted by the  Jiangxi Academy of Sciences and Mountain River Lake Sustainable Developments of Nanchang, P.R. China.

The 14th Living Lakes Conference was attended by 350 delegates from 33 countries in five continents.
